비인에서의 유학생활을 마무리하는 마음으로  첫 바이올린 협주곡을 썼다.
젊은 작곡가로서 나는  유난히 한국작곡가로서의 정체성에 관하여  고민을 많이 해 왔다.
그런 고민가운데 헝가리 작곡가 바르톡과 쿠르탁은 그런 나에게 더할 수 없는 고민의 해결사 역할을 해 주었다. 그들에게서 나는 아직도 많은 것을 배운다. 작품 속에서 그들의 예술혼과 인격까지도....
 

This is my first violin concerto, which I wrote while finishing the study in Vienna. At that time I, a young composer, have been deeply thinking over the identity as a Korean artist. Consequently, I found the key to this question in three Hungarian great composers, B.Bartok G.Ligeti and G.Kurtag. They have inspired me and I am still influenced by their art, spirit and personality.
